This latest selection of decals from 'Camdecals' covers late
40s' and early 50s' Vought F4U-5/N Corsairs. All of the aircraft are in the
overall Gloss Sea Blue ( FS 15042 ) US Navy schemes of the era. The following
aircraft are covered:
-
Vought F4U-5N Corsair. BuNo 124453, Det. D of VC-3, K-6
Airfield, Korea, 1953. This particular aircraft was flown by Lt Guy Bordelon,
USN. This pilot was the only non-jet ace, night fighter ace and Navy
ace of the Korean War. This airframe has a flat black anti-glare panel, flat
black propeller boss, but a light blue spinner. All markings are in a light blue
colour and the aircraft had a highly weathered.
-
Vought F4U-5N Corsair. BuNo 124484 , VC-4 'Nightcappers', USS
Antietam ( CV-36 ) in 1954. This aircraft has a flat black propeller boss and
spinner. No anti-glare panel.
-
Vought F4U-5 Corsair. BuNo 121800 , VF-23 'Flashers', USS
Wright ( CV-49 ) in 1948. This aircraft has a natural metal propellor boss and
spinner. No anti-glare panel.
These decals are printed for Camdecals by 'Microscale' and are
to their usual high quality. My sample decals were well printed, in register and
had good colour density. Carrier film was minimal and shouldn't be a problem.
The recommended kit for this decal set is the 1/48 F4U-5N by Hasegawa.
This is another nice selection from 'Camdecals' and a welcome
addition to their already large range. Korean Air War modellers will be pleased
with the release, and this suppliers quality speaks for itself.
Recommended.
