Firestorm Models is a new Australian manufacturer of resin figures,
plaster buildings and multimedia accessories. Thanks to the weak
Australian dollar, these products are quite inexpensive to modellers in
North America and Europe.
The item being reviewed is one of their 1/35 scale figure sets -
"German Winter MG Crew". This set comprises 19 parts in light green
resin making up two complete figures. Both figures are wearing
greatcoats and look suitably cold and immobilised. One of the figures is
supplied with optional heads.
The casting is of high quality. There were only two minor air bubbles
in my sample. These will easily be corrected with a spot of putty and a
swipe of the sanding stick.
The masters are clever, with each greatcoat open enough to reveal the
trousers of the German uniform underneath. The three-dimensional effect
is quite realistic for a single piece of resin.
The set comes packed in a sleeve that includes a full-colour photo as
a painting guide.
This is an attractive little set. Firestorm Models figures will add
some new variety to German dioramas.
Recommended.
