Mike Grant Decals' new Su-25K Frogfoot sheet is available in 1/72 and
1/48 scale.
The
tail markings might look more at home on a hot-rod than an Eastern
European ground pounder. The tail art depicts a scantily clad woman riding
a charging bison through a fiery sky while a star shines down on them.
Even the aircraft number is exotic, with the colour of the digits
fading toward the centreline.
The decals are all crisply printed and in perfect register. The
instructions are supplied on a single sheet, with three view diagrams in
full colour. A helpful drawing is also supplied for the dorsal fin intake
missing from the 1/48 scale Monogram kit.
These short-run decals are printed on a full sheet of carrier film, so
each item will have to be cut out individually.
The instructions note that these decals are more susceptible to damage
from scraping and handling than conventionally printed markings. Mike
Grant offers replacements for markings that are accidentally damaged in
handling or application.
Mike has also pointed out to me that, according to new photos that have come
to light, the woman does not actually appear on the bison's back on the
starboard side of the tail. Decal sets issued from now on will reflect this new
information, and Mike has sent out new tail decals to customers who
already bought the earlier sheet.
