Cutting
Edge set CEC32037 provides the modeller with enough parts to create four
1/32 scale AIM-9D/G/H Sidewinders for USN/USMC (1964 to late 1970s) and
foreign air forces aircraft.
Each missile is broken down into two main parts (body and warhead) with
four separate canards for the nose, and another four separate fins for
tail.
Cutting Edge have thoughtfully included a resin jig so as that you can
assemble your miniature missiles to ensure that all of the fins and
canards end up with the correct pitch.
The instruction sheet is quite comprehensive and provides a thumbnail
history of the AIM-9 as well as an excellent painting guide.
All of the fins and canards in my sample are commendably thin and lack
any flash or warpage whatsoever. The over-all moulded-in detail on each of
the parts, the rollerons on the fins especially, is a joy to behold and
almost temps a dyed-in the-wool 1/48 scale modeller like myself to convert
to 1/32 scale.
I also like the way Cutting Edge address the fact that thin resin parts
are fragile and pack the kit in a ziploc bag so that the parts cannot move
around against each other. The ziploc bag is then placed inside a
re-sealable plastic box further protecting the parts. This type of
packaging is a bonus as it ensures that the product reaches you without
damage.
All in all an excellent effort by Cutting Edge and definitely
recommended. I'm sure that this Cutting Edge product will find its way on
to quite a few Tamiya F-4s.

Productions for the review sample.
