Cutting Edge’s 1/48 scale “Thunderbolt Nose Art Part
Two” supplies markings for four aircraft with suitably prominent nose
art to add interest to Olive Drab and Neutral Gray subjects.
The first option, “White 81”, features a black and yellow
diamond-checked tail, chequered cowl flaps and a red cowl ring trimmed
in yellow. If that was not enough, the nose also displays a
pistol-packing blonde on a field of red. All the markings, including the
black and yellow tail markings, are supplied on the decal sheets.
This is a very colourful aircraft!
The remaining subjects display nose art and various theatre markings,
including a white tail and yellow cowl for “The Pied Piper”, and white
cowl rings with white tail stripes for “Sneezy” and an unnamed Bulldog.
All the decals on my review sample are in perfect register. The colours
look accurate, and the carrier film is thin. No stencil markings are
supplied.
This will be a popular sheet for anyone wanting to enliven an otherwise
drably finished Razorback Thunderbolt.
Recommended.
