This is EagleParts' new four-gun nose for Tamiya's Messerschmitt Me 262 in 1/48 scale. This nose is appropriate
for the standard day-fighter version, the Me 262A-1a. Even some Me 262A-2a
fighter/bombers were seen with the four cannon fitted in addition to some
Me 262B night fighters.
The part is a simple, one piece resin conversion. The
cover is hollow cast and is connected with a thin semi-circle of resin to
a curved casting block. Cleanup is a very simple matter - it took me less
than two minutes to carefully remove the casting block using a razor saw.
Eagle Parts has added the oval plates that presumably
cover the fitting holes for the attachment points of the muzzles/blast
tubes, and the middle set of open gun ports.
This is a "drop-in" part that directly replaces the kit
part. I have test-fitted the cover to the kit nose, and the fit looks
good. Please note that, in the photo above, the cover is simply resting on
the nose of the aircraft. Even so, there are no gaps evident and the
alignment will be perfect after very minor sanding or trimming, and
tacking in place with super glue.
Eagle Parts Four Gun Nose is a useful accessory for
depicting the vast majority of operational Me 262s.
Recommended.
