Nevertheless, this is a welcome product, particularly for modellers building the 1/48 scale Hasegawa family of Bf 109 kits. The mount for the tank supplied in the kit is the wrong shape. Cutting Edge's resin replacement item looks much better. This style of tank and mount was most commonly seen on the Messerschmitt Bf 109F-K. I liked the inclusion of the hollow breather tube at the front of the tank and the detailed sway-brace attachment points at the top. All detail is very crisp and well executed. There are no pinholes or other imperfections in the casting on my sample. The casting block for the mount is quite chunky. Care will be required to avoid damage to the relatively thin mount when removing this block. There are no instructions with this set. The determined detailer will want to add a strap (around the tank) and a fuel feeder pipe between the top of the tank and the centre of the mount. Brass tube or plastic rod will suffice for this task. Also, don't forget that the rack was mounted offset slightly to the port side of the fuselage centreline. This is another simple but effective accessory from Cutting Edge. Recommended.
