These decals from Italy are amongst the best I have ever used.
With minimal film, they are still strong and thin, and have a very glossy
finish. They settle down beautifully over fine details and react well to all
setting and softening solutions.
They are up there with the best from the USA and the United Kingdom, and they
are stronger and easier to handle than Propagteam. I cannot say enough in praise
about them.
My only criticism is that the serial numbers have to be made up from batches
of tiny individual numbers. These are very close together and difficult to see.
Also, the colour density on the white in particular is a little thin, but
otherwise quite good overall.
Each sheet is chock-a-block with national markings, squadron badges, and all
forms of other markings including stencils, squadron codes and serials from all
stages of the war.
The Macchi sheet (72014) covers 36 designated aircraft, but almost any 202
can be made by mixing and matching markings. The Fiat sheet (72010) has less
specific aircraft but the same potential to cover almost any aircraft in
service.
On the other hand, the instruction sheet is not so good. Each aircraft is
covered in one side view line drawing. There is no indication as to markings on
the opposite side. An instruction on the bottom of each page tells you to use
another reference for camouflage schemes and patterns! The colours are also a
bit vague, but they do include FS numbers. Many of the smaller markings are not
covered at all, and no serial numbers are given for any of the aircraft. A good
reference will be essential to complete the markings on any specific aircraft.
Instructions notwithstanding, these decals are very good with perfect
register, great detail and are a worthwhile addition to anyone's decal
collection.
It is a pity I don't speak Italian though. Oh well, nothing's perfect...
Highly Recommended.
