The latest volume in the Isradecal series of references on aircraft of the
Israeli Air Force (IAF) covers the A-4 Skyhawk. Researched and printed in
Israel, the book is a comprehensive reference of IAF A-4 E/F/H/N and TA-4H
Skyhawks, and is an excellent companion to Isradecals’ new sheet for IAF A-4s
(IAF-17).
The book starts out with a chapter on the general history of Skyhawk versions
used by the IAF, the identification numbering system used, and exterior color
information. Subsequent chapters are broken down by individual squadron and
include unit histories punctuated with combat narratives. Each squadron chapter
is profusely illustrated with photos and side view color profiles of specific
aircraft operated by the squadron.
The last pages of the book consist of
close-up walk around photos, emphasizing IAF A-4 specific details, such as the
30mm DEFA cannon, cockpits, and the extended exhaust. Finally, two 4-view color
profiles are included which show the original 1967 vintage camouflage scheme and
the new 1999 symmetrical color scheme.
This is probably the only reference on IAF Skyhawks you’ll ever need. Highly
Recommended!
