USAF 1950s Pilot's Helmet & Oxygen Mask Teknics
Reviewed by Brett Green
Model Railroad enthusiasts have been using cast brass for their tiny accessories for years. We have only recently seen limited use of this medium in our hobby, and even then mainly for use with armour models. Teknics have brought us a lovely little item in brass - a 1950s USAF Pilot's Helmet. This is beautifully cast with exquisite detail inside and out. There is a single brass stalk sprouting from the top of the helmet that will have to be carefully removed. The casting is a single piece, with the pilot's oxygen mask and hose dangling from the main helmet. really clever stuff. The mask and hose can be carefully positioned to suit their setting due to the flexible nature of the cast brass - but don't move it about too much after painting! Despite the fact that this is a single-piece accessory, the instructions are very nice. There are tips on working with brass and detailed painting instructions. This helmet will look great on a bang seat, resting on a wing walkway or in a similar setting. Highly Recommended.
