The propellers on the real F7F Tigercat rotate
counterclockwise when viewed from the front. When AMT produced their family of
1/48 scale Tigercats, they depicted the propeller blades with the reverse pitch
- they would have rotated clockwise.
This is the sort of error that most modellers
will never notice, but others will find very irritating.
Cutting Edge has released a set of propeller
blades and hubs to correct this problem. Casting is up to the usual high
standards, but some feather-like flash surrounds some of the parts.
Each blade is cast separately. A hub and
propeller shaft are supplied for each engine. The detail on the hub is
excellent, and the locating holes are deep enough to ensure a stout join with
the propeller blades and the shaft.
This simple correction set totally addresses
the error of the reversed propeller pitch on AMT's 1/48 scale Tigercats.
Recommended.
