"Augsburg's Last Eagles" examines the late war colors of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 through contemporary photos, comprehensive text and original artwork. The book provides a description of late-war camouflage using many unique wartime photographs as case studies. A number of these photographs are brought to life with Tom Tullis's evocative color profiles. A full color 'walk around' photo essay of Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 W.Nr. 163824 documents the camouflage clues left by a wartime survivor in original condition. This fascinating Bf 109 is now housed in Australia's Treloar Center and is probably the only Messerschmitt Bf 109 to retain its original camouflage and markings. The complex shape of the conformal nose found on the final variants of the Bf 109 is also clarified in a photo review of Bf 109G-10 W.Nr. 610937 while it was under restoration. Scale drawings of late war variants, full color profiles, Home Defense Bands and Tactical Markings by Tom Tullis as well as rare, war-time color photos complete the book. EagleFiles #3 provides detailed information on the Late War Messerchmitt Bf 109 G and K variants in a concise format. 8 1/2" X 11" soft cover format, 84 pp, 16 color. ISBN # 0-9660706-5-8 Price: US$30.00 Anticipated ship date 20 January 2001.
