EagleCals latest two decal releases each contain four unique sets of
markings for the Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 - the most produced variant of
the most produced fighter aircraft in history.
All of the subject aircraft have the standard framed canopy, short
tailwheel, short tail and standard wheels. Camouflage is standard too -
74/75/76 greys for all.
Ordnance is another matter entirely. These decals will give you a
chance to use your underwing MG151/20 cannon gondola and W.Gr21 rockets.
Each set has one subject with the rockets, two with the gondola under each
wing and one standard aircraft.
However, the real appeal of these decal sheets are the markings
themselves. These are:
EC#27
Yellow
6 of Alfred Surau. This aircraft has a yellow spinner, fine black
spiral, yellow under cowl, red victory marks on the rudder, and yellow
gun bulges with a large eye painted on each!
White 1, with a 70 spinner quartered in white plus a large white
comet trailing from the cowl gun bulges.
White 12, similar to above but with a black spinner, thin white
spiral and a plain black III. Gruppe bar.
Black 8 (white outline), a real hodge-podge with yellow undercowl
and rudder, broad blue RV band, black III. Gruppe bar outlined in
white, III. Gruppe emblem on the mid fuselage and 8. Staffel emblem on
port cowl. The spinner is black with a white spiral.
EC#28
White 9, yellow spinner, fuselage band, lower wingtips and rudder.
Yellow 1, with interesting double-decker IV. Gruppe bars over a
white fuselage band, white lower wingtips and a very broad white band
on the black spinner.
Red 13, Heinrich Bartels' famous "Marga", with white rudder and
fuselage band, and the wavy Gruppe bar in red.
White 6, another machine from 7. Staffel JG.3 with the big white
comet.
The decals are printed in perfect registration. Extensive stencil data
is included. The instructions are another highlight, with large colour
artwork of each aircraft and top view drawings to illustrate the
upper-surface camouflage schemes. A template for a tail pennant is also
supplied with EC#27.
These decals will be heartily welcomed by Bf 109 modellers.
Recommended.
