Decals

These new releases continue Eagle Cals' commitment to the Focke-Wulf Fw 190D. Both decal sheets include excellent instructions, with descriptions of colour schemes and helpful decal placement diagrams. The colour artwork is worthy of special mention. Tom Tullis's aircraft illustrations exhibit excellent light and shade, and a very convincing depiction of the camouflage colours. The 1/48 scale sheet focuses on the rare final variants of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190D series. "Yellow 10" is the most famous of these, but the other subjects are certainly of great interest too. The subjects covered are as follows:
All of these aircraft are featured in the excellent "Yellow 10" book by Jerry Crandall, published by Eagle Editions. A small addendum instruction sheet is supplied, pointing out new information about Double Chevron's markings. This is a thoughtful and honest touch. Set number EC #24-32 introduces EagleCals' loving research, excellent artwork and flawless printing to 1/32 scale Dora subjects. The timing is good, with Cutting Edge releasing a new 1/32 scale cockpit set to replace the poor kit item, and wing gun bulges to replace the strange oval bulges on the kit wings. Subjects covered are as follows:
One of the two full-sized decal sheets includes markings unique to each aircraft, while the supplementary sheet supplies stencils, fuselage crosses and wing crosses. Stencil text can easily be read in this scale. This decal sheet is a terrific compliment to the recent "Yellow 10" book by Eagle Editions, the recently re-issued Hasegawa 1/32 scale kit and the improved resin parts from Cutting Edge. With two full-sized decal sheets it is also excellent value at US$10.00. Both of these sheets are Highly Recommended. EagleCals decals are available from Eagle Editions Website or Hobby Retailers. Thanks to Judy at Eagle Editions for the sample. Review Copyright © 2000 by Brett
