This is the second decal sample that I have received from this
manufacturer, and like the P-47 sheet reviewed earlier, this product
will keep the ardent CR 42 fanatic busy for ages.
35 different subjects are covered on the sheet.
Most of the aircraft are Italian but for something different there is
a scattering of other CR.42 operators such as a Sweden (from 1942) and
also 2 aircraft of the Belgian Airforce in 1940.
Most of the Italian selection are wartime aircraft, however the CR 42
prototype from 1938 is covered, as well as a twin seat trainer version
and a number of aircraft from the early post war era of 1945 and 1946. A
number of the subjects are also covered that did not have the wheel
strut covers fitted.
The decals are very nicely printed by 'Cartograf' in Italy, and my
sample had excellent registration and colour density. Decal film is also
at a minimum, so silvering will not be a big problem when they are
applied.
Careful separation of the subject chosen will be needed from the main
decal sheet due to the closeness of all the choices.
The artwork in the instructions is black and white, however a nice
touch on the rear page is a chart that supplies paint matches to all the
colours needed, with reference to FS , Humbrol, Molak, Tamiya, Gunze,
Model Master and Mr Kit.
