The latest decal release for the recent 1/32 scale
Hasegawa Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 is a set for six Gustavs in Finnish
service in 1944.
The decals are supplied on a single 204mm x 142mm sheet.
They are well printed with perfect registration and minimal carrier
film. A nice inclusion is one full set of Finnish-language stencils.
The instructions are printed in full colour on a
double-sided A4 glossy sheet. A brief history of the Bf 109G-6 in
Finnish service is also provided on a half A4 sized sheet.

The subjects all wear grey 74/75/76 camouflage, but the
characteristically neat application of mottling distinguishes them from their
German counterparts. All aircraft also sport the low-visibility
blue-grey Finnish national markings. A single set of these hakaristi
(hooked crosses)
is supplied. Yellow Eastern Front theatre markings on the lower nose,
wingtips and fuselage band are also featured on each aircraft.
Despite this uniformity, there are still plenty of
subtle differences between the subjects. Individual aircraft numbers are
provided in white and yellow. These are applied in one of three different
positions across the six Gustavs - some under the windscreen, some
forward of the fuselage national markings and some on the tail. One
aircraft displays a personal piece of artwork on the rudder. Also, some
of the G-6s feature the tall tail, Erla Haube clear canopy hood and/or the
tropical filter.
MDC's Messerschmitt Me 109G-6 in Finnish Service
is a high quality production that will give your big Hasegawa Gustav a
very different finish.
Thanks to Vincent Kermorgant for the review sample.
