Ultracast already offer a number of accessories for the Messerschmitt
Bf 109, including seats for the Bf 109E and F-K, and accurate VDM9-12159A
propeller blades for late Messerschmitt Bf 109s.
These have now been supplemented with two new releases - resin
replacement exhausts for Tamiya's Bf 109E, and for Hasegawa's family of Bf
109F/G/Ks.
Casting quality is up to Ultracast's typically high standards. As with
their earlier exhaust sets, these resin parts feature striking detail in
areas including weld seams and
hollow exhaust pipes. The Bf 109E exhausts, with their angled and
squared-off exhaust stacks, would be particularly difficult to hollow out
using a drill, knife or motor tool.
The exhausts are cast onto a wedge of resin along the length of the
flat joining surface. The exhausts will easily come away from the resin
with a swipe of a hobby knife, although you will need to take care to cut
away the base of each stack from the casting block for the Bf 109E
exhausts (see the picture above for how the "E" exhausts should
look after removal). Don't worry about having to handle individual stacks
however. They are cleverly attached on the back of each stack!
These exhausts will add an impressive finishing touch to Tamiya's Bf
109E and Hasegawa's entire family of Bf 109F/G/K kits.
