Cutting Edge Modelworks has released two masking sets suitable for Hasegawa's 1/48 scale Arado Ar 234B.

CEBM48524, Canopy and Wheel Masks

I reckon one of the least-liked aspects of building model aircraft would be masking canopies. A slight error can ruin an otherwise beautifully finished model.

The latest in Black Magic's growing range of canopy masks is a set for the new 1/48 scale Hasegawa Arado Ar 234B-2. Masks for the camera windows, night-fighter upper window and fuselage portholes are also supplied. Masks for the wheels round out this set.

I have used this masking set on Hasegawa's Ar 234. The results were fast, labour saving and very high quality.

CEBM48xxx, Camouflage Masks

The new Hasegawa 1/48 scale Arado 234 is the subject for one of Black Magic's latest camouflage masking releases.

Measuring and cutting masking material for German splinter camouflage can be a very time consuming job. I have used this masking set on the new Hasegawa kit. I was very pleased with the results. The following technique was used:

The panel lines of the Arado were "pre-shaded" with black paint before a coat of Polly Scale RLM 76 Light Blue was applied to the lower surfaces.

RLM 82 Bright Green was sprayed on the upper surfaces and allowed to dry for a few hours before the Black Magic camouflage masks were applied.

The camouflage on these Arados had quite a sharp demarcation line, so I sprayed up close to the masks with RLM 81 Brown Violet.

These camouflage and canopy masks cut down on the time required to cut the patterns myself, and was more accurate than I might have managed with home-made masks or freehand spraying.

Recommended.
