On the heels of their previous
super detailed cockpit set, Cutting Edge has released a new set to
improve the exterior details of the Trumpeter 1/32 A-10A Warthogs.
While designed for the single seat A-10, a number of the parts
are also usable on the N/AW boxing of the kit.
Here’s what you get:
·
Replacement engine exhausts with the
correct shape and the turbine visible inside.
Note that the clear engine pod and resin engines are designed to
be omitted when these replacements are used.
While this won’t bother people who planned to pass on the
option of opening the engines, others will want to display the engines,
regardless of the inaccuracies. This
isn’t really a disadvantage of the set, but is mentioned as something
for people buying this set to consider when choosing their engine
options.
·
Engine nacelle details including
internal fairings for the fuel drains and fuel lines. The external fuel drain fairings for the nacelle undersides
are also included.
·
New rear landing gear sponson fairings
which correct the undersized ALE-40 dispensers.
·
Aerodynamic fairings for the front of
the wingtip ALE-40 dispensers.
·
Corrected wing fences and stall strips
for the wing leading edges.
·
Corrected and detailed refueling
receptacle and port sponson nose door.
·
New gun muzzle and barrel clamp.
This allows you to use the kit muzzle on the complete gun
assembly if one chooses to display it separately.
·
Undernose ALR-46 RHAW antenna for an
early A-10. This was the
system used prior to the ALR-69, which is represented in the kit by the
small clear domes on the sides of the nose and the tail.
Note that the kit already has the rear ALR-46 antenna molded
under the bottom of the tail.
·
Various antennas for under the nose and
rear fuselage.
·
APU intake and corrected exhaust.
The exhaust “eyelid” is a separate part as this was a later
addition.
·
Fuel dump pipe and centerline vent for
under the rear fuselage
·
Replacement LASTE sensor bumps,
including the ones that go on the underside of the horizontal tail which
Trumpeter forgot.
·
Various external details such as engine
nacelle bumpers for the fuselage sides, AOA probes, and air temperature
probes.
Combined with one of the
available resin cockpit sets, this latest offering from CE goes a long
way to making an accurate, albeit expensive, 1/32 scale A-10.
